John Leguizamo blows up Tremendous Mario Bros. animated solid because of lack of variety

Original Super Mario Bros. movie star John Leguizamo has commented on the upcoming animated restart. It was recently announced that the new Super Mario Bros. movie would be released in December 2022. The Super Mario Bros. movie was also revealed. All-star cast including names like Chris Pratt as Mario, Charlie Day as Luigi, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, and Jack Black as Bowser.

This news generated a lot of mixed opinions among fans. One person who wasn’t exactly thrilled with the new cast is John Leguizamo who said so personally in a recent post on Twitter. For his part, the former Luigi actor says he’s “glad” to see a new Super Mario Bros. movie that happens nearly three decades after the live-action film hit theaters. Unfortunately, Leguizamo put the casting into full swing and shared his disappointment that there were no “Latinx” actors in the lead roles.

The live action released in 1993 Super mario bros.. Directed by Rocky Morton and Annabel Jenkel. Written by Parker Bennett, Terry Runte and Ed Solomon, it was loosely based on the original video games and set in a dystopian world much darker than Nintendo’s version of the Mushroom Kingdom. Bob Hoskins played as Mario alongside John Leguizamo as Luigi, with a supporting cast including Dennis Hopper as King Koopa, Samantha Mathis as Princess Daisy and Frank Welker as Yoshi.

The cast of the Super Mario Bros. animated film includes Chris Pratt as Mario, Charlie Day as Luigi, Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong, Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek, Fred Armisen as Cranky Kong and Sebastian Maniscalco as Spike. Original Mario voice actor Charles Martinet will appear for unspecified cameo appearances, and while that’s a nice nod, many Nintendo fans weren’t happy that Martinet wasn’t going to be speaking Mario.

“I’m very excited to announce that I will be the voice of this video game that I dreamed of as a kid. Dreams come true,” said Chris Pratt on Instagram after his casting when Mario was announced. Pratt also revealed that he stole wishing well district as a kid to play the original Mario arcade game, and also said, “I just realized it. The neighborhood I stole from the wishing well to get Super Mario Bros. has It come true that I get to be Mario’s voice. But I clearly stole someone else’s wish so I’m just waiting for that row of karma dominoes to collapse on me. “

The new Super Mario Bros. animated film is slated to hit theaters on December 21, 2022. Meanwhile, fans of the original Super Mario Bros. film, starring Bob Hoskins and John Leguizamo, can download an expanded cut of the film that was shot online. The film was known to be a dud when it first premiered in 1993, but it has developed a cult following over the years, and Leguizamo himself has clearly remained proud of his work as Luigi.
